VCRs with Video Converters
The conflict of standard and zones
Video converting VCR is an offshoot of the problems of conflict of standards and zones. Every zone on the globe uses a different standard and there are as many as six zones that we have. Originally, though the standards are only three in number, namely the NTSC, the PAL, and SECAM, they have now expanded to six with a few combinations of standards. Thus we have the NTSC, PAL-M, PAL-N, PAL-Europe and Asia, and SECAM. While NTSC is the standard that is followed in most part of North America, SECAM is used in France and a few other European countries nearby, and PAL, in some form or other in the rest of the world including the South America. Main problem with the process is that none of these standards are compatible to each other.
