    Radio Commercials
Guglielmo Marconi invented radio in 1896. The first commercial transistor radio was the Regency TR1, which went on the market in the USA in 1954. Many people have contributed to the development of the radio. Radios grew in popularity in the late 1920s and became a common household gadget.Radio commercials are considered an economical medium for advertising. Should we Believe the Experts? (Part III)
Should we believe the experts in science? In science, the predictions made by Sir Rayleigh and Lord Kelvin on heavier-than-air flying provide two famous examples of misguided intuition.John William Strutt Lord Rayleigh (1842-1919) was a leading British physicist. In 1876 he was elected as President of the London Mathematical Society. In 1879, he was appointed as the second Cavendish professor of experimental physics at Cambridge (the first w
I’ve been working in some capacity since I was twelve. I began delivering newspapers in the neighborhood, was a stock boy at a local children’s clothing store, and did various jobs throughout college. I began full-time employment when I graduated in 1970 and have worked ever since. My last job lasted nearly 25 years. Since college, I’ve been in advertising and marketing, which matched my degree. It had its ups and downs, but was mostly economically rewarding and emotionally satisfying. Every workday, I would get up and think about what the business world would hold for me in the next several hours. For the most part, it was something to which I looked forward.

But there were other factors involved. My coworkers were also my friends, to a large extent. Many were people with whom I socialized. Then there was the working conditions. This company provided the latest computers and Internet access, fax machines and my cell phone. I had a nice office with a view from the third floor, a lunch room, and covered parking. Machine Shops
Machine shops are places where engineers or mechanics design and fabricate finished parts from metals, and repair machines of various types. The machines may be domestic appliances, bicycles, complicated four-wheelers or even airplanes. The job may involve repairing a malfunctioning part or replacing a non-functional part with a new one. Repairing a malfunctioning part may require many technical or mechanical operations to put it back into working condition. The mechani

    How to Commit Brand Suicide
A graphic designer spoke to me last week. His graphic design firm -- let's call it XYZ Design -- was numero uno in designing labels for a large wine company. Let's call that ABC Wines. Now ABC wines had some really super wines. They loved the incomparable graphic design of XYZ design, and continued to use them for several of their major brands. This one client alone generated tons of work and income for XYZ design right through the year. Then It Happened...

    Small Business Brokers
Business brokers act as matchmakers in the world of business. They bring together small and medium-sized businesses. Small businesses have their own limitations owing to their limited presence in the market. Though most of the business brokerage firms help in selling all sizes of businesses, there are specialized business brokerage firms for selling small businesses also. Through their contacts with big corporations, they can get a good selling price for a small busines

Free online classifieds offer great opportunity for discerning business to advertise their products and service for absolutely no costs whatsoever. Online classifieds websites are many in number and most of them want you to pay a fee for placing an ad. The people reading your classifieds ad don't care if you have paid for placing the ad or not. Because I was in commissioned sales, I was often given bonuses or “spiffs” as incentives along with awards and trips to places like Hawaii, for outstanding performance. I had a terrific compensation package including all my insurance, 401K and pension plans. You might say I was spoiled and had nothing to complain about and you would be right.

So, why did I dread the job on certain days? Sure, I had to go to mandatory all- day meetings where I listened to statistical reports that were boring ad nausea, but so what? Lots of employees are dragged into meetings. Other days, I had to face irate clients or long drives to customers that rarely bought anything. Yet, that’s all part of a salesman’s lot. So, why were there days when I wanted to do anything but go to work? Okay, I’m a bit of a whiner, but who isn’t? So, getting back to my topic, what are the real warning signs that maybe it’s time for a change of job scenery?

It’s more than dreading meetings, facing your boss, or hoping for more pay. It’s an attitude. Here are some basi
